The Charles Town Farmers Market is operating as a walk-through market with strict safety measures in place. Masks are required, customers must maintain appropriate physical distance of at least six feet, and no dogs are allowed at this time. One entrance (Congress Street), one exit (Washington Street). Operating hours are 9a-12p. (Updated July 15, 2020)
MARKET RULES DURING COVID
*Market operates from 9a-12p. If there are lines to enter market, you need to be in line by 11:45a to be allowed to enter market. If you try to join the line after that, you will be asked to return next week.
**Customers must wear masks to enter the market. If you left the house without yours, we have them to give.
**The first 30 minutes (9:00a – 9:30a) is reserved for seniors and those who are immunocompromised. Please use the honor system here and only use those first 30 minutes if you fit those two categories. Much appreciated.
**We ARE processing SNAP, and we ARE offering the double and triple dollars, but it’s different than in years past. Call 304-579-0924 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how this can work for you or someone you know. And if you received the P-EBT card in the mail because your child attends a Title 1 school, get in touch! Our market is the PERFECT place for you to spend these benefits to help stretch your family budget!
**We will limit the number of customers allowed in the market space at one time.
** CURBSIDE PICKUP AVAILABLE! If you feel unsafe walking through the market (or you live with someone who is compromised and don’t want to put them in danger), you can STILL pre-order and pre-pay with your favorite vendors. We have a designated zone in the BCT parking lot where folks can pick up pre-ordered and pre-paid products. Pull into the lot and look for the parking spots with orange cones and the RESERVED signs, just up the hill from the BCT dumpster.
**We have set a two-person per household rule, and we encourage this as much as possible. If you are a single parent, or your spouse/partner is away and you want to come to market with the kids, here are the rules……that parent/adult is tasked with keeping the kids close and moving through the market. Please monitor the child/children and make sure they are wearing a mask to the fullest possible extent. Keep a close eye on them, make sure they are not touching and handling products, and you are doing your best to get in and get out, so that others may enter.
**Customers will respect the 6′ physical distancing requirements. Volunteers will stroll through market and remind folks who may forget.
**We have a handwashing station available for all to use.
**Customers shop with their eyes and point to what they want. They are not allowed to handle market products.
**Please don’t hang out, mingle, or congregate. Get in and get out, so that those waiting to enter can do so. We love you, but please go home and enjoy your goodies!
**We have a limited number of vendors to start, and will include more vendors as we go along.
**Pre-orders, pre-payment is available, and encouraged.
**Vendors are still willing to accept your preorder and your prepayment, even if you DO want to walk through the market real quick to pick up your items. Just let them know that’s what you want to do.
**If paying with cash, please have exact change. BRING LOTS OF SMALL BILLS!
**Customers can bring their own bags, but must bag their own items.
**No dogs allowed (insert sad face here). We’ll need the space to practice proper physical distancing.
**(insert another sad face here) There will be no live music, no kids activities, no food sampling, no cooking demonstrations, and no events.
**Questions or comments can be directed to email@example.com or call the market cell phone at 304-579-0924.
Thank you for your patience, your cooperation, and your kindness as we try to make this work in the safest way possible. The health and safety of vendors, customers, and volunteers comes first. We hope to see you soon! This isn’t going to be like this forever, but it will be like this for a while.

“I just LOVE this market. One block jam-packed with a wonderful selection of local vendors. The variety is perfect, and the consistency is dependable. You are supporting local and regional family-owned businesses. Larger markets don’t always have this restriction, and you may not know where the goods originate. You can get in and out with just what you need, or grab breakfast, coffee or kombucha, and hang out with friends. I’ve been coming for over five years and it is the highlight of my summer.”
“I feel lucky to have found the farmers market. The products, the people, the experience; it’s all top notch. We’ve been going weekly for the past month. We enjoy meeting and speaking with all of the vendors; they are all very nice and knowledgable. The quality of produce, product, and price can’t be beaten. Our children love going to learn and they make it an adventure! We highly recommend that everyone check it out at least once.”
